() said it has acquired Drawnite.com, a fan website for the video game Fortnite in another expansion of its digital media arm.

The esports firm said Drawnite has more than 14,000 Fortnite fans signed up for its interactive map services and bespoke content and that the site will serve as the latest addition to its growing network of Fortnite websites and platforms which attract over 500,000 users per month.

Gfinity said its digital media business will leverage the growing search engine optimisation (SEO) authority of its core websites, Gfinityesports.com and Realsport101.com, to “supercharge” the growth of Drawnite’s user base while also integrating the website’s interactive map and features into the group’s existing Fortnite offering.

The firm added that the website will also be fully monetised by its advertising partner Venatus.

() said it has been appointed by the Red Bull brand as the production partner for Red Bull Kumite London, a new two-day tournament that will see competitors battle it out on the Street Fighter V video game.

The esports media group said the event will be live-streamed over 22-23 May from the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London and is the latest partnership between Gfinity and Red bull following the RED Bull World’s Simplified digital show last year.

Earlier this year, the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown measures around the world slammed the brakes on most live sport, with football matches, motor racing and other events postponed as the world battled the infection.

During the period, esports events stepped in to fill part of the void created by the absence, with esports media group () partnering with Formula 1 to host the F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix, a series created to enable fans to watch Formula 1 races virtually using the F1 video game franchise.

() John Clarke speaks to Proactive London about sharply reducing their losses in the first half and their focus on ‘multiple revenue streams’ on areas they ‘own’ to aim for higher margins and scale.

Adjusted operating loss was GBP0.9mln, narrowed from GBP2.4mln in the prior year, while revenues from the period stood at GBP3mln compared to GBP3.5mln a year ago.

Clarke also addresses the conclusion of its strategic review and formal sale process, initially launched in October last year, saying that it has concluded it is in shareholders’ best interests for it to focus on ‘accelerating the growth of the business under its existing strategy’.
