Crossword Cybersecurity PLC (LON:CCS) said its consulting division has helped Vital Signs Solutions, an early-stage digital healthcare firm, achieve the standards of the UK government’s Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
The cybersecurity and risk management specialist said the certification will give confidence to Vital Signs’ patients, partners and regulators over its data security processes and the protection of sensitive patient data.
Vital Signs develops PocDoc, a digital platform that facilitates testing for health conditions via a fingerprick which provides users with a full health assessment and offers solutions to any issues that arise. Most recently, Crossword said PocDoc has provided end-to-end coronavirus (COVID-19) rapid testing solutions for workplaces across the UK.
Crossword said its consulting team conducted a full review of every aspect of Vital Signs’ security processes and technology to “ensure the protection of data from the point of entry for its whole life, as well as ensure the resilience of the platform against cyber attacks”. The firm also said it recommended and implemented and improvements required, which were then independently tested before certification was awarded.
The firm also said the success of the project has been instrumental in helping Vital Signs scale as part of the NHS Digital Accelerator, which supports the uptake and spread of innovation across England’s NHS.
“Digital health is an exciting high growth area, where extremely sensitive data is in the care of companies that are growing extremely fast.
“Cybersecurity is critically important and done well is not a drain on a company’s financial and other resources. Our advice is to get started early with schemes such as Cyber Essentials Plus and other accreditations. Not only do they protect your business and the data under your stewardship, but they also open opportunities”, Crossword Consulting’s associate director Chris Wilkinson said in a statement.
